I strive for simplicity and elegance in my workâsimple quality design. For me that means intuitive, elegant navigation and layout. Clean lines. Open space. A dash of humor where appropriate. Otherwise, focus attention on the product, person, or whatever else the job is about.
- Understand and respect the client's needs.
- Be thorough, meticulous.
- White space. Flow of shape. A lot of focus on typography. Humor.
- Simple sensibilities will reach the viewer.
- Every project must ultimately tell a story to the viewer.
No web site owner should need any special software or training to update and manage their site. I build primarily on Drupal, which allows complex dynamic sites which can be edited and managed with no special skills or software. I work hard to understand my clients' normal work-flow and then tailer the administrative interface to work for them.
On a web project I work to keep the markup (code) clean, while at the same time leveraging open-source software. It's sometimes an interesting balance -- but it provides my clients with less expensive websites which are easier to upgrade (and not only by me). This technical platform also provides excellent accessibility, better search-engine visiblity, and faster downloads. All good.
